Amista is a small, but comfortable joint in Anigua to enjoy a local lunch or dinner. They offer your pretty standard Chamorro dishes (Tinaktak, Kadun Pika, and Estufao), but also add enough twists to provide a varied menu. We started with the Salmon Mousse and Garlic Toast as an appetizer for $8.25. It was the more adventurous item on the appetizer list, but didn’t exactly meet the craving the way I anticipated...a little too salty. For the main course, I went for the Amista Combo Plate of pork chop and drunken chicken. Probably one of the more fried entrees, but it was affordable at $9.50 and for very generous portions. The healthier side of the house offers salads or wraps. Would I come back? I appreciated the local flare on the menu, but my choices for the evening weren’t top notch. However, I had a small taste of the Kalua Pork and think it’s worth giving a shot. I give Amista a [B-] rating. ~ La-Di Da-Di

KALUA PORK & CABBAGE |
FOOD: I ordered the Kalua Pork, which was served over white rice and mixed with purple cabbage. The meal was palatable…acceptable to my liking. It was a bit oily, but not bad overall.
PRICE: Pricing was reasonable, especially considering it was a large portion. My meal was $8.75. The menu was simple with a few main courses and some sandwiches.
PLACE: Service was decent and the place was clean.
My overall personal rating: *B-* ~ CAPEESH
