When you receive a recommendation for a Korean restaurant from your Korean friend, you try it. Tucked away in a hidden corner on the 2nd floor of the East West Rental Building, this lovely little place serves all your favorite Korean cuisines. It comes at a price, but pretty comparable to other local Korean eateries. Standard appetizers were brought out including bean sprout salad, spicy braised tofu, and broccoli and cabbage, to name a few. And they were good about bringing more sides upon request at no additional charge. We had the Galbi (or Kalbi) and the Beef Bulgogi for about $20/each. The Galbi was nicely marinated, but the serving wasn't as generous as other places. Not that you need that much marinated short ribs, but for the price you pay you might expect a little more. The Beef Bulgogi was plentiful, but didn't please my taste buds the way the Galbi did. With the curtains blocking any view of the inside, you almost expect a dive bar with karaoke, but it was exactly the opposite. A homey Korean restaurant with writing on the wall, the biggest wax candle you've probably ever seen as the main decor, and a very inviting staff. Would I come back? I love the idea of a late night restaurant that is not King's or Denny's and that is clearly known in our local Korean community, so yes. I give Chung Suk Gol a [B+] rating. ~La-Di Da-Di

APPETIZERS |
PRICE: It was $18.00 for the galbi meal.
PLACE: The restaurant itself
was different mainly because each table area is covered with dividers making it
quite privateā¦ which I enjoyed. The restaurant is also open way past normal
closing hours which could make a good after hours eatery. Staff was friendly
and service was good.
My overall personal rating: *B-* ~CAPEESH
