LOCATION: Acanta Mall, San Vitores Road, Tumon
FOOD: I
ordered the Grilled Chicken with a butter glaze. The chicken was a thigh piece
with the skin and it was served with mashed potatoes and bok choy. The sauce
was light, but still tasty, and the chicken was cooked well. The meal was not
bad.
PRICE: Grilled Chicken was
$19.00.
PLACE: The restaurant had an
ambiguous atmosphere because there was no consistent theme. The restaurant has stuffed gorillas hanging
throughout, but the name did not have much to do with the menu. It contained
a variety of different types of food from kelaguen as an appetizer to Napoleon-
style French toast for dessert. However, the service was good and the food was
“not bad” for a restaurant that just opened.
My overall personal rating: *B-* ~ CAPEESH

CHICKEN KELA'GUEN |
Acanta Mall has sadly become a bit of a ghost town lately, so it was a surprise to see a new restaurant pop up. Hopefully new joints like Gorilla will help give it a jolt. The ambiance was pleasant with a jungle vibe and dim lighting. The menu was pretty simple and similar to other local fusion joints. We ordered the Chicken Kela’guen and homemade tatiyas to start. For $7, it came with a small amount of tatiyas, but a good amount of kela’guen. The kela’guen was very moist and had the perfect amount of lemon. For my entrée, I ordered the Balsamic Cider Salad, which came with a mix of greens, red onions, red cabbage, cherry tomatoes and topped with goat cheese. It was good, and you can either order a small for $9 or a large for $12. It was a little warm that evening, but definitely something they can fix. Would I come back? Yes. And they have a little lounge area, which looks like a good spot to unwind. I give Gorilla's a [B] rating. ~ La-Di Da-Di
