10. SHOGUN TEPPANYAKI

PHONE: 671.649.0117
HOURS: 11am-2pm, 6pm-10pm Daily
LOCATION: Across PIC Hotel (Tumon)

FOOD: I ordered the Steak, Chicken, and Shrimp combination, but I substituted the chicken for more shrimp. Shogun had everything I would expect from a teppanyaki restaurant – the salad with the Japanese dressing, miso soup, steak, shrimp wrapped in bacon, bean sprouts and tofu. The steak was cooked to my liking… medium well when usually my steak will come out either medium or well done. The shrimp was good and I noticed they were not stingy with the extra helpings. I think I had about 6 pieces on my plate.

PRICE: $38.99 (does not include dessert)

PLACE: As far as the place, I liked how they give you a cold scarf to protect you from the heat. The chef did one trick on the grill that I think he called “explosion” and that’s exactly what it was… a burst of fire that lasted a second. But the place itself could be cleaner (good thing they cook in front of you), and the service definitely needs improvement.

My overall personal rating:  *B*    ~ CAPEESH

We tried to up the scale for our tenth restaurant, and up the scale we did. $35 for the Chicken & Salmon combination, which came with tofu, assorted vegetables, miso soup and rice. The food wasn't bad nor was the service, but there was nothing in particular to make Shogun stand out compared to my other teppanyaki dining experiences. Our chef was pleasant and entertained us with the typical teppanyaki fire show, but it wasn't so much a show as a mild fire explosion. Still, my food was seasoned and cooked well, so I had no complaints there. The cleanliness didn't exactly match up to the price you pay...Would I come back? Probably if someone invites me, but not on my own accord. I give Shogun Teppanyaki a [B-] rating.     ~ La-Di Da-Di
