18. BALUTAN QUEEN CAFE

PHONE: 671.475.8808
HOURS: 8am-4pm, M-Th; 8am-5pm, F; Closed Sat & Sun
LOCATION: 1st Floor, Bank of Guam Headquarters, Hagatna

FOOD: I had the pork adobo with rice. If you live in a Chamorro household then you will understand it was like cooking at home and taking it to go. It was no different then the pork adobo you’ll eat at Grandma’s house. Overall the food was not bad, but the meat was quite fatty.

PRICE: The price was $7.95. The menu changes up everyday and usually consists of two different specials to choose from.

PLACE: If you feel like a homemade meal to-go, this is the place to get it. Just like the name…“Balutan”.

My overall personal rating: *B-*     ~ CAPEESH

TACOS & ENCHILADAS
Balutan Queen Café ~ simple, quick and the taste of a home cooked meal. Offering two lunch specials a day, this little spot offers friendly service and a filling meal for only $7.95 with the soup of the day for only $2.95. I went with the taco and enchilada special, which came with more than enough to fill the lunch appetite. The enchiladas were definitely the highlight with just the right seasoning. The tacos were good enough, but nothing spectacular. With such a quaint space, I wasn’t sure that they’d offer dine-in seating. I was going off the name itself as a pack-and-go type of spot, but that wasn’t the case. They offer all sorts of snacks and drinks, which gives it a little bit of a Mom & Pop feel. Would I come back? I like that they offer different meals everyday, so I may consider when in the area. I give Balutan Queen Café a [B] rating.     ~La-Di Da-Di
