14. FISHERMAN'S COVE

PHONE: 671.646.DINE
HOURS: 6pm – 9:30pm, Nightly
LOCATION: Hilton Guam Hotel, Tumon

FOOD: Once you decide the type of fish you want at Fisherman’s Cove, you can choose how you want it cooked (sautéed, grilled or fried) and how many ounces. I ordered the Red Snapper with mashed potatoes and bok choy, which went well together. I asked the waiter if I should get it grilled or fried and he suggested sautéed or grilled. I ordered it sautéed, which wasn’t the best idea. It wasn’t bad, but I was served the tail of the fish and besides the butter and lemon sauce, I kept getting fish scales and bones. However, when I did happen to get just the meat it was tasty. I am assuming you could actually choose the cut you prefer, so for next time I will ask for a different part of the fish. In this particular dining experience, I wish I was more knowledgeable in the culinary art of fish. If you want different seafood options, there are many other menu items to choose from including clam pasta and fried shrimp

PRICE: The prices of the fish are listed as ‘market price’. I am not sure about the exact price of my meal, but our total bill was 39.00 for a 6 oz of Red Snapper, a 6 oz Halibut, and a Crab Cake.

PLACE: Service was not bad and the place itself was a cross between a seafood market and a fancy restaurant.

My overall personal rating: *B*     ~ CAPEESH

HALIBUT
I anticipated Fisherman’s Cove to be a little pricier considering its hotel setting, but for an appetizer and two entrees, the final bill was reasonable at $40 including tip. I usually keep it safe with what I know - Salmon or Mahi - but I took the waiter’s recommendation this time around and went for the sautéed Halibut instead. It was perfectly seasoned in a light butter and lemon sauce and served with the daily vegetable and starch of bok choy and steamed rice. If you have a different craving, you can spend a few more dollars and choose other sides off the menu. I was very pleased with my entrée and would definitely order it again, but the appetizers weren’t as promising. They brought seasoned chips as a starter, which ended up being a little too salty for my taste buds. We complemented it with a Crab Cake appetizer garnished with mandarin slices and a crab claw. While it was a decent size for two or maybe even three people, it would’ve been more appetizing with the mayonnaise dressing on the side. Overall, it was a perfect family-friendly setting with an enclosed glass area to watch the chef in action (one kid loved it), and the service was at an enjoyable pace. Would I come back? Yes. The waiter’s recommendation worked for me, so I look forward to trying out other seafood items on the menu. I give Fisherman’s Cove a [B] rating.     ~ La-Di Da-Di
