5. MAITE RESTAURANT HAWAII BBQ

I’d call this a “dive” restaurant in the best sense of the word. It’s in the same old commercial building that houses Red Barron, a bar most have frequented at least once in their island lives. I was hesitant at first, but it quickly topped the list for several reasons.
1. It was clean.
2. The menu has an array of choices.
3. The service was fast.
4. The portions were generous.
5. The prices were exceptionally reasonable.
6. They don’t use MSG (so they say).
I had the Barbecue Chicken plate – 3 pieces of boneless chicken lightly seasoned, 2 scoops of rice and a macaroni salad all for $5.90. And I could have easily shared this meal with another person and still been satisfied. I’ve never tried authentic Hawaiian cuisine, but the food wasn’t so foreign to my tastebuds causing me to wonder if it really is Hawaiian cuisine. I guess I was expecting something more. Nevertheless, I liked it. A lot. Would I come back? For sure. I give Maite Restaurant Hawaii BBQ an [A-] rating.  ~ La-Di Da-Di

FOOD: I ordered the BBQ plate, which came with beef steak, short ribs, chicken (thighs), white rice and a macaroni salad. The food was palatable (not bad at all). For those of you who have been to the Hawaiian joints in the states, it was comparable to L&L and Aloha Kitchen.

PRICE: The pricing was the best thing about the place. It’s very cheap for the amount of food given. I believe my plate was around $8.00.

PLACE: Definitely a hole in the wall and the cleanliness of the place may look sketchy from the outside, however, the restroom was clean and there’s a little window that exposes the kitchen. Service was good.

My overall personal rating:  *B*  ~ CAPEESH
