The list of Chinese restaurants on Guam is long, so you tend to spread the word when you find one that’s good. A co-worker boasted this as his “favorite $5 Chinese restaurant", so naturally it was our first pick. I’m not one to really crave Chinese cuisine, but this place was able to satisfy my dinner appetite. We had a decent spread on the table, but my top pick was General Jao’s Chicken for $7.00. I would liken it to Orange Chicken, but with a zing. Enough spice without killing the other flavors. For some greens, we had the Eggplant with Garlic & Chili Sauce for $6.00. Tasty, but also a little too oily. The Yang Zhou Fried Rice was good, but pretty standard, and the Honey Walnut Shrimp was a no-go for me…too much mayo. It’s a family-owned restaurant, so you pretty much have to request for service, but they definitely make up for it with the affordable prices and decent servings. And all their customers appeared to be local Chinese, which is an automatic plus for me. Would I come back? Sure...the taste and the price are more than reasonable for a Tumon eatery. I give OB Chinese Restaurant a [B] rating.     ~ La-Di Da-Di

FOOD: We ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Eggplant with Garlic and Chili Sauce, General Jao's Chicken, and Yang Zhou (combination) Fried Rice. The Honey Walnut Shrimp had too much batter, but overall it was good. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were not too oily, and I like that they had clear noodles inside. The Eggplant with Garlic and Chili sauce was exactly that; it was a simple side dish. General Jao’s Chicken tasted just like Orange Chicken and had a sweet and tangy sauce. It was good, but I always prefer white meat. Lastly, the Yang Zhou Fried Rice was a good combination of meat and seafood and was not too oily, therefore enjoyable.

PRICE: The shrimp was $10.00, spring rolls were $5.00, eggplant was $6.00, and both the chicken and the fried rice were $7.00 each.

PLACE: The prices were reasonable, the service was good and the place was clean.

My overall personal rating: *B+*     ~ CAPEESH
