23. GABRIEL'S HOUSE OF PASTA

PHONE: 671.472.GABE (4223)
HOURS: 11am-2pm, 6pm-9pm, M-F; 10am-1pm, Sun; Closed Sat
LOCATION: Across Chief Quipuha Statue, Marine Corps Drive, Hagatna

FOOD: For an appetizer, we had the Mozzarella Sticks and Minestrone Soup. They both were very good. The breading for the mozzarella sticks was quite tasty and the cheese cut off perfectly and did not go hanging after the first bite.  For dinner, I ordered the Ala Vodka with Italian sausage. I really liked it and the portions were generous. I will definitely go back again and order the exact same meal.

PRICE: It was $14.95 for the Ala Vodka with Italian sausage (price varies with the choice of meat). The Mozzarella Sticks and the Minsetrone Soup were around $9.00.
PLACE: Service was great. I would describe the place as a cute hole in the wall.

My overall personal rating: *A+*      ~CAPEESH

CHICKEN PARMIGIANA
I’ve been to Gabriel’s House of Pasta more than once, but this was my first time back in at least a couple years. My first observation: it’s still good. Though they only had a few patrons that evening, they’ve obviously been pleasing appetites after being around 3-4 years now. It’s a small restaurant sandwiched between a tattoo parlor and a pool hall, but I think it’s worth the stop when you’re looking for a pasta fix that isn’t Capricciosa. We started off with the Minestrone Soup and Mozzarella Sticks (about $9 for both). The soup was a tasty starter, and the sticks were the best I’ve ever tried. In fact, I never order mozzarella sticks unless I dine here. For the entrĂ©e, I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana for $11. By far they give more than your money’s worth and more than you need. The marinara has a pleasant homemade taste and the breaded chicken was nicely baked. Would I come back? Because the meals are so filling and hearty, it’s the kind of place I’ll go when I feel like treating myself. And I love Italian, especially when it’s done good by locals. I give Gabriel’s House of Pasta an [A] rating.     ~ La-Di Da-Di
